Clinical Placement Opportunities for Trainee Counsellors and Psychotherapists
Updated October 2026
I am currently at capacity and am not able to take on new placement students. I have kept this page live so you can see how a placement here works — it is based at 1 Park Lane, Allestree, Derby, within an established, well-held clinical environment where trainees on accredited counselling and psychotherapy courses begin to put their training into practice with real confidence. Please keep an eye on this page, which I update as soon as more opportunities open up.
Current status
Placements are currently full. Keep an eye on the website — I update this page whenever new opportunities open up.
I am Miriam Wright, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with an MSc, PG Cert, PG Dip and BSc in Psychology. I am BACP Senior Accredited (Reg. 70306) and an experienced clinical supervisor. My approach is grounded in safe, ethical practice and tailored to your emerging way of working.
What the placement offers
The placement is designed to give you meaningful, hands-on experience of working with clients across a range of presenting issues and lengths of work. You will be supported throughout, with supervision built in as a core part of the arrangement.
- ·Long-term and short-term client work
- ·Face-to-face, online and telephone experience
- ·Course-approved and adaptable to your training requirements
- ·A safe, confidential and well-established clinical setting
Group supervision included
Group supervision is offered as part of the placement. This gives you a reflective, peer-learning space where you can bring your client work, think through ethical questions, and develop your practice safely alongside other trainees.
- ·Small groups of 2–4 trainees
- ·Grounded in the BACP Ethical Framework
- ·Support with course paperwork and reports
When places open up
I am at capacity for placements at the moment, so I am not asking for expressions of interest or CVs right now. When new placement places become available I will update this page, and it is usually the first place I announce them. In the meantime, the details above still describe how a placement here works, so it is worth reading through and thinking about what you would want from your training placement.
- ·Keep an eye on this page — I update it as soon as places open up
- ·Check the blog for news from the practice
- ·Read about the practice and how I work
